Year 7 Leavers’ Celebration.

28th May 2020

As the month of June draws quickly upon us, normally we would be getting ready in school for a busy June month with our Year 7 pupils.  The last of the residential trips, sports day, sports tournaments, Leavers’ Night at Glenmachan, preparing Records of Achievements, PTA Year 7 BBQ all contribute to a very special last month for our pupils.

During these unprecedented day of the Coronavirus pandemic, life for all of us has changed dramatically and obviously the month of June will be very different for our Year 7 pupils than ever before.

Week  beginning the 22nd June we plan to have a week of celebration with our Year 7 pupils. Pupils will be encouraged to make videos, posters, etc to celebrate their time and memories of  4 years at Strandtown from home.

On Thursday 25th June and Friday 26th June ( 9:30am - 11:30am) we are going to have a ‘drive through’ when parents and pupils will drive up to school and receive a Leavers’ Pack through the car window and then leave. (All social distancing guidelines will have to be followed and pupils/parents will have to remain in their cars)

On these mornings our Year 7 pupils will receive a class leavers’ t- shirt (with names on the back) PTA class photo and we plan to have available a video to celebrate the class of 2019/20 time at Strandtown P.S. It will also give pupils and staff the chance to say a last goodbye.

During the month of June our Year 7 pupils will continue to take part in our traditional SUNI programme called, ‘It’s Your Move’ as part of their home learning. This focuses pupils’ minds on the challenges and opportunities of moving from primary to post primary school. Starting tomorrow, we also begin our weekly  ‘Life Skills Day’ with our Year 7 pupils to add a freshness and new excitement to their last weeks of school.

Thank you once again for your continued support and patience during these challenging days.
