Parent Focus Group

24 May 2016

The parent Focus Group met on Wednesday 11th May.  Thank you to all parents who came along and gave so freely of their time and thinking.  There have been a number of points/ideas/suggestions raised which will go forward to the Senior Leadership Team for further discussion.  We also issued a Parent Communication Survey to all Year 5 and Year 7’s.  Thank you to those parents who responded.

Have a look at the results.

We are exploring communication by electronic means, moving forward on the use of our website and how we can keep parents informed about school events and news.

Come join our Parent Focus Group…. We would love to have as much input from parents as possible in helping the school shape the best pupil experience.

Views from a parent….

The Parents’ Focus Group meets several times during the school year.  The agenda will comprise items suggested by parents together with items on which the Strandtown Senior Management Team wishes to hear parents’ views.  The recent meeting that I attended covered responses to the school inspection, thoughts on several new policies and a discussion around how to communicate effectively with the large body of Strandtown parents.  The Vice Principal, Mrs Hutchinson, chaired the meeting and ensured that all parents’ views were heard as we moved through the agenda.  The tone of the meeting was very positive and differing opinions were valued and noted.  Being part of the Parents’ Focus Group is a good way to enhance the partnership between parents and staff, all of whom want the best learning experience for Strandtown pupils.  Obviously, the more parents who are part of the Focus Group, the more representative it becomes and so I’d encourage you to think about joining the group. - Year 6 parent.

If you would like to put your name down please contact Miss Bailie at school.
