Strandtown Boys Shine at Belfast Boys' Hockey Finals.

14th Mar 2017

Today, 25 boys represented Strandtown across 3 teams at the Belfast Boys'Hockey Finals. All teams gave a great account of themselves, bringing much praise from the supporters watching and the tournament organisers.

The C team worked tirelessly for each other and secured 2 draws out of their 5 games.

The B team were so unlucky not to make the semi finals,  having  conceded a late goal in 2 of their matches. However, the boys can take great satisfaction from their performances today.

The A team won all 5 of their group games comprehensively, taking them through to a semi final against Campbell College. Despite conceding an early goal, the boys fought back to win 2-1.

The final once again was against Inch Marlo. It was a very tight game between 2 evenly matched teams. Cruelly for Strandtown, and with the game heading for extra time, Inch Marlo scored the winning goal with the very last hit of the game. We congratulate the A team on doing so well in this competition and for qualifying for the NI Finals at Lisnagarvey on Friday 31at Match 2017.

Well done to all boys, coaches and to parents who came to support.
